Pressure-Enhanced Sand and Investment Casting

Description:

This innovative technology involves enclosing sand and investment casting molds within a pressurizable chamber filled with permeable materials such as silica sand or granulated ceramics. By applying pressure above atmospheric levels—up to around 10 ATM—during the molten metal solidification phase, the process enhances the physical properties of the resulting metal alloys. The design includes a reusable, removable liner for easy mold insertion and removal and a sealed chamber constructed from durable materials like welded steel or iron.

Key Advantages:

  • Improves metal alloy strength and durability by refining microstructure during solidification.
  • Reduces casting defects such as porosity and shrinkage.
  • Compatible with existing sand and investment casting processes.
  • Reusable chamber design enhances operational efficiency.
  • Enables higher quality castings without significant process overhaul.

Problems Solved:

  • Eliminates common casting defects caused by atmospheric pressure limitations.
  • Enhances alloy performance where traditional casting falls short.
  • Prevents void formation and improves dimensional accuracy.
  • Addresses inefficiencies in mold filling and solidification consistency.

Market Applications:

  • Aerospace components requiring superior alloy properties.
  • Automotive industry producing high-performance metal parts.
  • Industrial machinery components with enhanced durability.
  • Tool and die manufacturing benefiting from improved casting quality.
  • Custom metal parts fabrication seeking reliable and robust materials.
