This invention introduces a novel hybrid cushion damper that leverages the strengths of both steel and shape memory alloy (SMA) for optimized performance in energy dissipation and self-centering. The damper features a unique design where steel and SMA components are combined using specialized bolt configurations. The steel part adopts an oval shape for enhanced energy dissipation, while the SMA part, with its S-shape, contributes to the damper's self-centering ability. The design allows for the adjustment of the SMA part's curves to suit various damper sizes, enhancing both horizontal and vertical behaviors of the damper.
